1. Purpose
This policy explains how Superfast IT manages devices that are no longer in use, inactive, or not communicating with our monitoring systems.
Our objective is to:
- maintain accurate asset records
- ensure devices remain secure and properly managed
- avoid unmanaged cyber risk
- provide clarity around billing and re-onboarding
2. Scope
This policy applies to all client devices covered under a managed service agreement, including:
- desktops and laptops
- servers (physical or virtual)
- devices with RMM monitoring
- devices with endpoint protection or security software
- any device billed on a per-device basis
3. How We Identify Inactive Devices
Superfast IT monitors device connectivity through our Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platform.
If a device fails to check in for a continuous period of three months, we will:
- Log a service ticket.
- Contact your nominated contact to confirm the device’s status.
- Request confirmation whether the device is:
- permanently decommissioned
- temporarily offline
- lost or disposed of
- still in active use
